It’s the start of summer, and four young cousins are staying with their grandparents in the old quarter of Baku, by the shores of the sparkling Caspian Sea. Their charming, curious old house becomes the starting point of an unexpected, sometimes frightening adventure, as narrated by the neighbourhood cat. The youngest, Nana, awakes wanting a drink in the kitchen, and sees a mysterious glow coming from the basement. Mesmerised, she follows a dancing globe of light through a creaking bookcase door … Meanwhile Hura, Tima and Azik discover little Nana’s absence and bravely follow her footsteps, finding themselves in another time, when legends live, puppets and animals talk, and an Evil Queen threatens to rule the land in darkness and cruelty. In their search for Nana, who is seeking to save Princess Leyla from the Evil Queen, the three encounter many dangers but are also aided along the way. When they eventually find Nana, there is little time before evil will triumph and they will be trapped there for ever. Were the children’s efforts in vain? And can they ever return to their beloved grandparents?
